Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune College Admissions

Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (DPU), Pune, sponsored by the Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Society, Pune, was declared a "Deemed-to-be-University" under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, in 2003. Starting with Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pune, DPU has grown exponentially over the last two decades, adding eight more constituent units to its fold.

The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), on the advice of UGC, declared Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, as a Deemed-to-be University, including Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune, through a notification dated January 11, 2003. Later, in a notification dated September 20, 2006, three additional institutions were included: Dr. D.Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pimpri, Pune; Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Nursing, Pimpri, Pune; and Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy, Pimpri, Pune, which were established in 2000.

Subsequently, three new institutes were approved by UGC: Dr. D.Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute, Tathawade, Pune; Global Business School & Research Centre, Tathawade, Pune; and Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Optometry & Visual Sciences, Pimpri, Pune, as per the Office Memorandum dated March 16, 2010.

Additionally, the Institute of Distance Learning, Pimpri, Pune, was approved by the Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC, New Delhi, through DEC Letter dated August 4, 2010. UGC granted its approval for continuation in 2014, and further approvals for ODL (Open and Distance Learning) programs were granted in March 2019. In 2020, UGC also approved the offering of online programs starting from the 2019-20 academic session.
